JR Richards (former singer of Dishwalla) releases demo of “The Fading Light” to bandcamp subscribers

JR Richards has released another exclusive to his BandCamp Subscribers and it is the demo to “The Fading Light.”  Go HERE to listen if you are a subscriber or join there to listen to it.

JR had this to say about the demo from his BandCamp Page:

“This is the original demo I did for “The Fading Light” from “Honore et Amore” and is a very gospel sounding version using only piano and vocal. Generally I will work on a song in this simple format as I’m writing and then decide how I might do it for an album later. It is much slower than the album version which I ended up recording as a full band. Listening to them both now, in some ways I think this slower/ simpler version is even more lyrically powerful when done this way. Let me know what you think and I hope you enjoy the listen – JR”

Here are the lyrics:

The day is home to fate
And life entwined to keep us safe
And now the time is gone in flesh and bone
It’s silent here again

I will pull you up even if it pulls me in
I can lift you up even if I break again
I will keep you safe even if it pulls me in
And the white light fades
As the white light fades again

The world is one less sea
and still it swells to keep us free
Though we are fragile and strong
we were never alone
And it’s silent here again

I will pull you up even if it pulls me in
I can lift you up even if I break again
I will keep you safe even if it pulls me in
And the white light fades
And the white light fades again
